Nominations for the 2027 Family Business of the Year Awards close on 30 November 2026, leaving 32 days from this check. Family Business United's official entry form is open for businesses to enter or be nominated. It does not specify a closing time or timezone, so confirm those details with the organiser and submit ahead of the final day.

Start With the Family Business Story

The programme celebrates family firms across the UK, welcoming businesses of all sizes, sectors and generations. Awards are presented by region, sector and in national categories. Choose the route that matches your business's strongest achievements rather than trying to cover everything it does.

The nomination form asks for the business's website, contact details and head office region, plus a short outline of what it does and the reason for its nomination. Each of those written answers allows up to 100 words. It also asks whether the business knows about the nomination and whether it wants to participate in the regional People's Choice Awards.

Make those short answers specific. Explain the problem your business addresses, what the family and team changed, and the difference for customers, colleagues or the community. A clear result and a concrete example are more useful than a list of flattering adjectives. Crafting Winning Awards Entries can help you build that evidence-led story.

Plan Beyond the Nomination

The 30 November 2026 cutoff is for the initial nomination. The entry page says shortlists will be announced in January 2027, followed by a detailed submission due on 31 March 2027. Treat those as separate stages: the later submission date is not extra time to nominate a business.

The programme page schedules the awards evening in London on 9 June 2027. If you are entering, identify who can gather the supporting evidence after shortlisting and keep the ceremony date in your planning calendar.

Complete the official nomination form with the right contact person and a focused explanation of why the business deserves recognition. Before sending it, ask someone outside the business to read the answers: can they see both what makes the family firm distinctive and the impact it has delivered?
