The Best SME Awards 2027 will open for entries on 18 November 2026, with a final deadline of 1 February 2027 at 18:00. That leaves 91 days from this check to prepare and submit. The organiser says there will be no deadline extensions; it does not specify a timezone, so confirm that detail before setting your submission schedule.
This is preparation time, not an invitation to assume the new entry cycle is already open. UK-based small and medium-sized businesses can start by reviewing their results, choosing the most relevant category and identifying the evidence they will need.
Who Can Enter and What It Costs
The terms require entrants to be based in the UK and have fewer than 250 employees, or be self-employed. Sponsors and judges cannot enter.
The published fee is £39 plus VAT per paid category, with free exemptions listed in the FAQ and terms. The FAQ allows entry in 2 categories, in addition to nomination categories, and recommends a tailored submission for each. Check the current description and fee for your chosen route before paying.
Judging is by a panel of business experts, not a public vote. The FAQ says entries without financial information will not reach the final, so decide early who will prepare and approve those figures.
Prepare a Case the Judges Can Follow
The organiser asks for evidence of business differentiation, financial performance and satisfied clients. Build your case around a specific challenge, the action you took and the result. Combine measurable progress with an approved customer account or case study that makes the impact understandable.
Keep each answer focused on the category rather than copying a general company profile. Check that the financial figures reconcile with your narrative, that supporting material is relevant and that anyone named has approved its use. Schedule a fresh-reader review before the February cutoff.
