Check the UK Requirements First
For the RIBA UK Awards, the project director must be a current RIBA, RSAW, RIAS or RSUA Chartered member, or a RIBA International Fellow. Projects in Scotland should enter the RIAS Awards; winning projects are considered for a RIBA National Award.
Projects must have been completed between October 2024 and January 2026 and occupied by January 2026. Partially occupied projects need RIBA approval. You also need the client's permission and evidence meeting the UK sustainability criteria, including actual energy data, water usage and relevant carbon calculations.
Prepare Evidence of the Building's Impact
Start with the client brief, the design response and the difference the completed building makes to its users and surroundings. Gather performance data alongside the people and experiences behind it, so the entry explains the outcome rather than simply describing the design.
The requirements call for project information, a summary, a description, an inclusive accessibility statement and supporting images. Check photography permissions and publication credits early: RIBA may publish the summary and use the images if the project receives an award.
Apply through the official UK entry platform when the window opens. The process allows you to save a draft, but submitted entries cannot be edited. Leave time for client approval, a final evidence check and payment before submitting.
